CT Man Shot During Carjacking, Police Say

A Connecticut man was shot multiple times during a carjacking.

The New Haven County incident took place in Hamden on Third Street near Dixwell Avenue around 6 a.m., Thursday, July 21.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired, located a victim with gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. The victim, a 46- year-old male from Hamden, was transported by ambulance to the hospital for further medical treatment, said Det. Sean Dolan, of the Hamden Police.

The condition of the victim, who was not identified, is unknown at this time, Dolan said.

According to Dolan, the victim was approached by two men who demanded his vehicle at gunpoint. A brief struggle ensued, at which point the victim was shot and the suspects stole his vehicle.

Police are actively investigating the shooting and carjacking.
